Custom Orthotics

Many people suffer from conditions such as low back pain, knee pain, sciatica and even plantar fasciitis. If you are one of these people then custom orthotics might be beneficial for you. Our custom foot orthotics are made with the highest quality material and are fabricated in house by our Canadian Certified Pedorthist. They are designed to support the foot, alleviate pain, protect the joints and improve the function of the lower extremity which will allow for a better quality of life. Our custom orthotics are designed specifically to each individual's needs, ranging from correcting foot abnormalities to accommodating and offloading pressure points that might be present.

The Certified Pedorthist will go through a detailed assessment which includes:

  • Patient history

Current complaint, past injuries, previous treatments, footwear etc.

  • Weight bearing and non-weight bearing examination

Analyzing foot range of motion, abnormalities, deformities, swelling, etc.

  • Gait Analysis

    Examining walking patterns

  • Casting

If custom orthotics are prescribed as the treatment plan a 3-D impression of the feet will be taken

Common conditions treated with custom orthotics:

  • Plantar Fasciitis - Low Arches/Flat Feet
  • Heel Pain - Leg Length Discrepancies
  • Heel Spurs - Knee Pain
  • Metatarsalgia - Sciatica

Extended health benefits

Most extended health benefits will cover some or all of the cost of the custom orthotics. They will most likely require a prescription from a medical doctor for coverage to be approved. If you don’t have a prescription prior to the assessment, we are able to provide you with one that would need to then be signed by a medical doctor.

Bracing

Braces are designed to help support and stabilize a joint while also managing pain that could be present. There are many different types of braces that are specifically designed for each unique injury or condition and it is important to get the right fitting brace for you. Compression Stockings

Compression stockings are socks that come in various lengths and are designed to have gradient compression throughout the sock. What this means is that they have greatest compression starting at the ankle that gradually reduces in compression as it moves up the leg. This allows for better blood circulation in the legs, providing relief of tired, achy legs and decreasing the amount of possible ongoing swelling.

Compression stockings range in compression levels, starting at 8mmHg all the way up to 40mmHg. Depending on the diagnosis, you may be prescribed a higher or lower level of compression. Any compression level greater than 20mmHg will need a prescription from a medical doctor.

Compression stockings can help prevent and decrease progression of many venous disorders such as:

  • Swelling (edema)
  • Varicose veins
  • Spider veins
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Venous insufficiency
  • Tired and achy legs
  • Sizing: Knee High, Thigh High, Pantyhose, Maternity
